This children’s book set contains four marvellous adventures of Ethan and Matt, who are best friends and together they form Project Adventure kid detective agency. Their heart lies on solving mysteries together and over time their relationship grows even stronger.

The books reminded me how much I loved reading books as a child and then as a teenager. I was into reading children in strange situations and solving mysteries together or discovering new friends. Most of them were always series involving adventurous kids. Exactly like this one. When I was reading about Ethan and Matt, I found out how much adults can also learn from these stories. They remind us of the importance of friendship and having someone to count on. In each book, they find new friends, who are also in great danger, but then start to bond with them through their adventures. No matter how different you are from your friend, you can still trust each other when you need someone. Because my studies involve heavy topics, I needed a sweet and fast-paced book. These came my way again at a perfect time to remind me how much we need children books at certain moments.

✨ The Heart of the Island: The first book in the series and also their first mystery involves the lost heart of the island, which belonged to their neighbour Karen’s family. She asks for help and with their strong bond, they will embark on a journey to discover the lost heart. They also deal with the bad guys coming after them, which adds to the adventurous part of the book.

✨ Rumble at the Zoo: Their second mystery involves Skywalk Zoo shutting down because the animals start to become agitated and in turn, the animals begin to shift their bewildered behaviour to the visitors. If they don’t find help, the zoo will close down and the animals will be put down. When no one else offers to help, a little girl and daughter of the zoo owner, Lisa calls Ethan and Matt for help. The author does an amazing job at describing the nature of animals, they get protective during stressful situations. If you love animals, this is the perfect read for you!

✨ The Courtside Mystery: In the third one, Ethan and Matt are planning to go to a basketball summer camp but of course, mysterious events don’t leave their sides. Soon they find out that there are strange things happening to start with an accident during a basketball game at the camp. When things get worse between the basketball teams, Ethan and Matt leave their playing time and start to investigate the mysterious events. Even though It seems like they leave their relaxing summertime to work but that’s what summer camps are for: solving mysteries with your best friend. 

✨ The Scrapyard Shakedown: The last book is for dark mystery loves, who are obsessed with gloomy weather. Ethan and Matt meet with a new friend Kalea and this mystery involves her in danger dad. When winter becomes even colder, new shadows start appearing at the edge of town. The cold weather makes it harder and will put them in grave danger with villains trying to stop them. This one really shows how much a strong friendship is needed when they have to trust someone. When they all face danger, they have to make mature decisions. This lets them have their own individuality in a way.
